Amrita Rao has been going slow but steady in her career that started six years back. Last two years have been good too with VIVAH in 2006 and WELCOME TO SAJJANPUR in 2007. But doesn’t she sometimes feel like getting a little more aggressive. Even though she had ISHQ VISHK, MASTI and MAIN HOON NAA to boost her career, isn’t she too picky about her projects?
Replies Amrita with the trademark laugh of hers, ‘Well, I certainly want to prove the adage of slow and steady winning the race. Yes, I have been choosy about my projects because I don’t want to regret later about picking up something for which I didn’t have my heart in. I am just very contended with the fact that I am getting different opportunities every year.’
Also, though the delayed MY NAME IS ANTHONY GONSALVES, a special appearance in SHAURYA and the successful WELCOME TO SAJJANPUR were her releases in 2008, she could have seen a lot more had VICTORY and SHORTKUT – THE CON IS ON released as per the original plans.

‘That’s all destined I guess’, says Amrita, ‘The whole of last year I was busy working on my three films – WELCOME TO SAJJANPUR, VICTORY and SHORTKUT – THE CON IS ON. But then the release date is not something that you can count for in your scheme of planning. What has turned out well though is that though VICTORY and SHORTKUT are releasing now, I am extremely happy with the way they have shaped up. Both of them show a new facet of mine and that’s good enough to keep me happy.’
While VICTORY is arriving on January 30th/February 6th, SHORTKUT-THE CON is eyeing a 6th March release.
